The Apostles’ Doctrine

What the Bible Says…

“And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship,
and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.”

Acts 2:42

Acts238_1Concerning Sinful Man:

  • All persons are born in sin and shapen in iniquity.
(Psalm 51:5)
  • The heart of man is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked.  (Jeremiah 17:9)
  • All have sinned and come short of the Glory of God.  (Romans 3:23) (Romans 5:12)
  • And that at one time we had no hope and were without God in this world.  (Ephesians 2:12)
  • Payment for sins is death.
 (Romans 6:23)(Romans 5:10)
  • While we were without strength and were ungodly sinners, Christ died for us.  (Romans 5:6-8)

Reconciliation To God:

  • Sinful man can be reconciled to Jesus Christ.
(2 Corinthians 5:18, 19) (Romans 5:10) (Colossians 1:21)
  • That God chose blood to cover the sins of man; a substitute had to die.
(Genesis 3:21)
  • And that without the shedding of blood is no remission (of sins).
(Hebrews 9:22)
  • That reconciliation is brought about through the blood of Jesus Christ.
(Hebrews 9:12) (1 Peter 1:18, 19)
  • It is the blood that makes the atonement for our sins.
(Leviticus 17:11)
  • That Jesus shed His blood at Calvary for us.
(John 19:34) (Acts 20:28) (Hebrews 9:12) (Revelation 1:5)

Coming to God:

  •  No one can come to Jesus except the Father (Spirit) draw him.  (John 6:44, 65)
  • Jesus himself said, “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you.”
(John 15:16)
  • He also said, “For many are called, but few chosen.”
 (Matthew 22:14)
  • The phrase “Accept the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior”, is not in the Bible. Jesus said “Except”, not “Accept”…
(John 3:3,5) (Matthew 18:3) (Luke 13:3, 5) (John 6:53)

The Grace of God:

  • We are saved by the Grace of God, His free gift to us.
(Ephesians 2:8)
  • When we were enemies to God, we were reconciled to Him by His grace.  (Romans 5:10, 15)
  • The Grace of God has appeared to all men.
(Titus 2:11)

The New Birth Experience:

  • To gain God’s salvation you must be born again of water and of the Spirit.  (John 3: 1-7)
  • Being born of the water occurs when one goes down in water baptism in the Name of Jesus Christ.
(Matthew 28:19) (Luke 24:47) (Acts 2:38) (Acts 8:16) (Acts 10:48) (Acts 19:5)
  • Being born of the Spirit happens when one is filled with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance.
(Acts 2:1-4) (Acts 10:44-47) (Acts 19:6)

Repentance:

  • It is the “Goodness of God” that leads one to repentance .(Romans 2:4)
  • God is not willing that any perish, but that all would come to repentance.
(2 Peter 3:9)
  • There must be a true repentance of a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart. (Psalms 51:17)
  • Old things are passed away, all things become new.
 (2 Corinthians 5:17)
  • There must be a separation from worldliness.
(2 Corinthians 6:17)
  • Knowing that our old man is crucified with Him…
(Romans 6:6)

Water Baptism In the Name of the Lord Jesus:

  • Baptism for the remission of sins is in” The Name of Jesus Christ,” as commanded by our Lord Himself.  (Matthew 28:19),
  • This was confirmed and commanded by the Apostle Peter.
 (Acts 2:38)
  • There is salvation in no other name.
(Acts 4:12)
  • This also is commanded by the Apostle Paul, that whatsoever we do in word or in deed is to be done in the Name of the Lord Jesus.
(Colossians 3:17)
  • The Apostle Paul teaches that we are buried with Him in baptism.
(Romans 6:3-5) (Colossians 2:12)
  • Water baptism in the name of Jesus is essential to salvation as shown in the scriptures and urgently needs to be accomplished upon one’s confessing their sins to God and repenting to God of those sins.
(Matthew 28:19) (Luke 24:47) (Acts 2:38) (Acts 4:12) (Acts 8:16) (Acts 10:48) (Acts 16:33) (Acts 19:5)
  • Water baptism in the Name of Jesus fulfills the requirement of being Born Again of the water. It is for the remission of all of your sins.  (Acts 2:38)

Infilling of the Holy Ghost:

  • To be “Born Again of the Spirit” one must be filled with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues and the Spirit of God gives the utterance.  (Acts 2:1-4) (Acts 10:44-47) (Acts 19:1-6)
  • This is a prophesy fulfilled by God as told in the Old Testament .
(Ezekial 36:26) (Joel 2:28,29)
  • Without this infilling of God’s Spirit into us, He does not lay claim to us.  (Romans 8:9)
  • You’ll have no resurrecting power when Jesus comes back for His bride.
(Romans 8:11) (Matthew 25:1-12) (Revelation 19:7) (2 Cor. 3:18)

Holiness:

  • God is Holy, we also must be holy.
(1 Peter 1:15)
  • We are to present ourselves before Him being holy.
(Romans 12:1)

Why We Dress Modestly:

  • Women’s adornment should be in modest apparel, which becometh women professing godliness.  (1 Timothy 2: 9, 10)
  • A woman’s appearance is not an outward show, but that of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. (1 Peter 3:3, 4)
